Quick disclaimer: in light of Angus Cloud’s sudden passing, we’ve removed a section about season three of Euphoria getting pushed back to 2025 — it was a little pithy and now seems inappropriate. With this in mind, this week’s newsletter may seem a bit brief, but we’ll be back next week with more.
On to the ruminations!
Doja Cat Hates Her Fans
Doja Cat was in the news this week for metaphorically spitting in her fans’ face. First, she made fun of the name her fans call themselves (“Kittens”):
Um, why can you call yourself a cat but your fans can’t call themselves kittens?? Is it not the most obvious nickname? But pushing on, the situation culminated with this exchange:
Obviously she’s insane for this. I don’t know why this whole attitude feels contrived — like, stop trying to play this bitchy Regina George-esque character and just be normal! I know Doja Cat is known for being one of those celebrities that’s good at using social media and showing her personality etc., but this is over the top. Being extremely rude to fans while maintaining universal adoration is an art form best left to Rihanna, thank you.
(Also that Twitter user ate her up, it’s so funny. “Miss high school dropout” PLEASE)
People Won’t Stop Throwing Things at Celebrities
Maybe Doja Cat’s aggression towards her fans was a preemptive strike against the strange wave of people assaulting celebrities mid-performance. Something…violent…has been in the air this summer & it seems like you can’t put on a show without someone trying to attack you. Let’s run the gamut:
-Ava Max gets slapped in the face by a fan
-Bebe Rexa has cell phone thrown at her
-Kelsea Ballerina is struck in the eye by a a bracelet
-Drake fans keep throwing bras at him lol jk
This is so insanely bizarre. I can understand throwing flowers (or bras in Drake’s case), but I just cannot wrap my mind around what would compel you to physically attack an artist that you are a fan of. Why would someone do such a thing? Is this a trend now, that you go to an artist’s concert with the express purpose of assaulting them? I mean, Bebe Rexha is annoying as hell, but damn, I don’t want to throw a cell phone at her. IS NO ONE SAFE?!
The latest incident in this odd string of violence is someone throwing their drink on Cardi B as she was performing. Cardi responded by immediately throwing her microphone at the person’s face — which is like, obviously violence is not the answer, but there is that saying about of messing with the bull and getting the horns and whatnot.

Teresa Giudice Insults Sofia Vergara
In a heartbreaking turn of events, Real Housewives Icon Teresa Giudice has come for Actual Icon Sofía Vergara, basically dismissing her as stuck up/conceited.
Apparently, Teresa and Sofía’s respective PR reps wanted them to take a photo together at an event. When Teresa tried to pose for the picture, Sofía wouldn’t budge and eventually walked off, telling her representative that she didn’t want to take the photo.
I can sympathize with Teresa — I have definitely formed an entire snap judgment of a person’s character and soul because they were kind of mean to me one time. At the same time, it’s entirely possible that Sofía was just stressed out and/or having an off day — and let’s be real, Teresa Giudice and Sofía Vergara are not exactly peers in this industry lmao. It’s not beyond the pale that Sofía would feel a little bothered here (although I do love them both).
Teresa went on to make some borderline offensive remarks about how Sofía should have more humility:
“She forgot where she came from. It’s not like she started out being on top. I’m Italian, she’s Colombian. She has an accent, she has more of an accent than me. You would think she would be nice, you know!”
^This is so dumb. First of all, you don’t know about Sofía’s life! She could have grown up in the Colombian private school system with 12 maids or what have you. However, we have to remember that Teresa literally thinks of herself as a first generation Italian immigrant even though she was born/raised in New Jersey — in her mind, she’s leveling with Sofía, her fellow immigrant in the industry. I can’t with her lmao.
